Vergie Mae Bain, age 100, passed away May 21, 2011 in Brownwood, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm, Monday, May 23, 2011 in Bangs Cemetery.
She was born December 15, 1910 to Eph and Ellie Sheffield in Bangs, Texas. Vergie married Ray Bain on September 12, 1929. She lived in Bangs, Midland, and Corpus Christi. After Ray’s passing Vergie moved to Brownwood, where she has been a resident of Care for nineteen years. Everywhere Vergie and Ray lived, they were strong supporters of the First Methodist Church.
Vergie was preceded in death by her parents, Eph and Ellie Sheffield, husband Ray Bain, brothers; R.O. Sheffield and Carl Sheffield, and sister; Lillie Williams. Nephews deceased are J. Floyd Williams, Dwaine Williams, and Billy Carl Sheffield, and one great nephew Doyle Lee Sheffield.
Vergie is survived by nephew Rushing Sheffield and wife of San Angelo, Texas, nephew Dwaine widow, Betty Sheffield of Abilene, Texas. Also are three great nieces Denise Biard, Dianne Baren and Valerie Sheffield. She also has one great-great-niece and five great-great-nephews.
