Verba Plummer, age 92, of Brownwood passed away Saturday June 2, 2012 in Brownwood. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in May Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Verba was born November 7, 1919 in Rising Star, TX, to Samuel and Alice Carroll. She married Earl Plummer on October 20, 1938 in Rising Star. Verba belonged to several organizations in the community. She volunteered with the Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s Women’s Auxiliary for over twenty years. She was also a member of the International Association of Rebekah, as well as a member of the AARP; where she served as president at one time. Verba had many skills and hobbies which she enjoyed pursuing. She was a very good seamstress, an excellent cook, and a wonderful gardener. Verba loved being outside and enjoying outdoor activities. While volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, Verba would make Christmas stocking each year for the newborn Christmas babies to go home in. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Verba was also a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. Verba was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Plummer was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl Plummer, 2 sons; Benny Plummer and Freddy Plummer, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and a great-granddaughter; Gabriella.
Survivors include 3 grandchildren; Todd Plummer of San Angelo, Sonya Suarez and husband Marc of San Antonio, and Chris Plummer and wife Angela of San Angelo, 11 great-grandchildren; Amanda, Aaron, Ryan, Katrina, Emily, Pablo, Michael, Meleah, Mason, and Maddox, daughter-in-law; Gayle Plummer of San Angelo and special friend; Jerri Plummer of San Angelo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary in Mrs. Plummer’s memory.
