Ventura Cadena, age 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Songbird Lodge in Brownwood. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood, burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7pm, Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave., Brownwood. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm, Friday at Davis-Morris.
Ventura was born on July 14, 1941 in Lohn, Texas to Ascension and Petra DeLeon Gonzales and was a lifelong resident of Brown County. She was married to Johnny Cadena on June 3, 1960 and together they raised 2 children, Saul and Vivian. Ventura worked at Brownwood Manufacturing for 30 years and was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed Playing cards with her family, playing Bingo and doing Word Search puzzles. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.She is survived by her husband, Johnny Cadena of Brownwood; son, Saul Cadena and his wife Deana of Brownwood; daughter, Vivian Finkey and her husband Randy of Pflugerville, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Finkey of Hutto, Texas, Joshua Finkey of Hutto, Texas, Randi Finkey of Pflurgerville, Texas, Zenita Robles of Abilene, Texas, and Zachery Cadena of Brownwood; great grandchildren, Lilith Villarreal of Pflugerville, Texas, Ian Villarreal of Pflugerville, Texas, Silver Finkey of Hutto, Texas, Lalia Finkey of Hutto, Texas, Mia Robles of Abilene, Texas, and Payton Robles of Abilene, Texas; sister, Cathy Ruiz; brothers, Medardo Gonzales, Gonzalo Gonzales, Eramso Gonzales, Nino Gonzales and Richard Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ascension and Petra Gonzales; brothers, Jimmy Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, and Ascension Gonzales; sisters, Juana Ramirez, Elida Perez, Cato Castanuela, and Petra Quiroz.
