Brownwood News – About 8:00 pm Saturday evening the City of Early was notified by other park users that someone had broken one of the basketball goal backboards at McDonald Park.
Early PD was notified and it was determined that someone had thrown a rock at the backboard and shattered it. If anyone has any information as to who did this, or when it was broken, please notify Early Police Department. Your information will be kept confidential. The city will be working to remove this goal and replace it when possible.
According to a post on the The City of Early Facebook page, there has been an increase in vandalism at McDonald Park over the last few months. If you have noticed that the bathrooms have either been locked or paper products removed, it is because someone continues to place handfuls of towels in each of the toilets. There has also been incidents of smearing soap across the entire bathroom as well.
The city of Early says it needs everyone’s help to report this kind of activity if you see it. They have no choice but to limit access to these amenities if the vandalism continues.
