Early Sunday morning, the local Brownwood United Parcel Service offices and service center located at 1506 Custer Road was destroyed by a fire. Cause of the fire is still unknown and under further investigation, according to Brownwood Fire Marshall Buddy Preston.
Shipping manifests as well as other information from third parties is still to be reviewed. Preston and UPS officials are to meet with their insurance company for further investigation today.
As Preston stated, “They (UPS) did not miss a beat”. A large shipping container and equipment from San Antonio and Austin was loaded onto a trailer and transported to Brownwood for set which was completed by 9pm on Sunday night. UPS was back operational for Monday morning business as usual. Patrons can safely continue shipping their packages once again with the local UPS office. Further information will be posted on Brownwood News as the investigation is completed. Watch for details in an upcoming article.
