Grubbs_closeSheriff Bobby Grubbs’ surgery performed this morning at Abilene Regional Medical Center was less complicated than expected, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

Instead of replacing the collapsing heart valve, doctors were able to repair it.

Grubbs is recovering and should be released and back home by the end of the week.

Monday, July 12: Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs will be out from work for six to eight weeks, following open heart surgery on Wednesday to replace a collapsing heart valve.

“Some people will do anything to get out of the upcoming county budget process,” Chief Deputy Bobby Duvall joked.

Doctors learned last week that Grubbs has no heart blockage, which bodes well for Wednesday’s surgery, Duvall said.

“We here at the Sheriff’s Office are greatly concerned for Sheriff Grubbs and many are praying a highly successful surgery and a speedy recovery,” he said.  “We greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers for Sheriff Grubbs as he goes through this difficult surgery and recovery.”
