A favorite summertime tradition for many children and church members, Vacation Bible Schools are taking place at many local churches this summer. Volunteers are working hard to make special experiences and memories for children. Customarily offered are weeks full of learning about God and Christian teachings, arts & crafts, plus Kool-Aid and lots of cookies.
Schedules of vacation Bible schools and kids camps that are being offered in the coming weeks are below.
Austin Avenue Church of Christ hosts Kids Matter Kamp every Thursday starting June 19 and ending July 31. The program starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:00 pm. and is for kids that have just finished kindergarten through kids that have just finished 5th grade. Parents can drop their children off in the back of the main church building by the tree and little white stair case; look for the sign that says “Visitation Room.” Austin Avenue Church of Christ is located at 1020 Austin Avenue.
Early First Methodist Church welcomes children Kindergarten through 6th grade to “Workshop of Wonders, where we will imagine God, build with God, and grow with God!” Monday – Thursday, June 23-26 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. attendees will enjoy a VBS workshop where the carpenter, Sandy Paper, imagines and builds projects. Assisting Sandy is the hard working and curious Rivet, the ant puppet. Sandy and Rivet will introduce children to a wonderful story from the Bible each day and people who model how to imagine and build with God. Come discover that our God offers a wonderful blueprint of service through Jesus Christ for all of us. The week will be full of fun from doing crafts, hearing Bible stories to eating snacks and playing games. Early First Methodist Church is located on Hwy 377, near Early High School.
Abundant Life Church, located at 585 W. Commerce, will host Vacation Bible School with a camping theme called “Son Rock Camp” on June 23, 24 &25th. VBS will run from 6-8:30 pm each night with registration beginning at 5:30 pm each night. A light meal, outdoor activities such as rock climbing wall, bounce houses, water will be included along with other activities including crafts and lots of fun. Kids from Pre-K through 6th grade are invited to attend.
Midtown Baptist Church will host their annual Vacation Bible School, “SHINE! Go Fish!” from June 30-July 3rd. Organizers state that this will be an action packed week of fun and learning to give God the glory.” Midtown Baptist Church is located at 1813 3rd Street in Brownwood.
Coggin Avenue Baptist Church will host a spy themed Vacation Bible Scoot from July 7-11 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Children 5 years old to those who have just completed the 6th grade are welcome to attend.
Early First Baptist Church will host a Vacation Bible School July 7-11 from 9 AM until Noon. This year’s VBS is “Follow Me.” Early First Baptist Church is located at 103 Garmon Drive, in Early.
First United Methodist Church Brownwood will host Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 20 through Thursday, July 24th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. The VBS theme for this year is “WEIRD ANIMALS: Where JESUS’ love is one-of-a-kind!” FUMC is located at 2500 11th Street in Brownwood
Early Church of Christ will be hosting Vacation Bible School July 21-23, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Those attending will learn some great lessons about Jesus, prayer, and an awesome future God has planned. Milton Avenue Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School on Monday July 21st – Friday July 25th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Children kindergarten thru 6th grade are invited to attend. Milton Avenue Baptist Church is located at 702 Milton Avenue, near the Brownwood Coliseum.
Brownwood Evangelism Center, located at 2515 Ave D, will host King’s Creed Vacation Bible School on August 1-3, 2014 to children from age 4 – 11. On August 1st and 2nd, the times will be 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and on August 3rd, the time will be 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Renaissance Fair immediately following. Guests of the King will be given access to the King’s Kingdom Celebration, feast in the King’s Kitchen, apprentice at the Master’s Guild, take part in the Tournament Games, and study The Word in the Great Hall. The Renaissance Fair will include food, games, and FUN! Parents are encouraged to attend the session on Sunday and participate in the Renaissance Fair.
