eggsA few community events will take place in Brown County in the next two weeks to celebrate Easter.  These Easter happenings are listed below, so mark your calendar and get ready for some family fun and good food.

MARCH 23

11:00 AM – Early Community Easter Egg Hunt

Care Nursing and Rehabilitation will host an Early Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23rd from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  The public is invited to enjoy this free event.

The hunt will take place on the Care Nursing and Rehab grounds with hunts for age groups of 4 and under, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.

The Easter Bunny will be present and will provide opportunities for free 4 x 6 photos.  Early City Mayor Dr. Robert Mangrum will greet the community as they enjoy the egg hunt, hot dogs, candy, music, Dr. Pepper, fruit and much more.

MARCH 30

11 AM – 1:00 PM – 5th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt & Candy Throw-Down

The 5th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt & Candy Throw-Down will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Coggin Park at the pavilion area.

Organizers state that this will be the biggest and best Easter Egg Hunt in Central Texas with over 18,000 pieces of candy and candy filled Easter eggs.

Participants are asked to bring an Easter basket or sack for each child.

There will be hunting areas for children pre-k & under; kindergarten & 1st graders and 2nd & 3rd graders.

Two Easter Bunnies will be available for pictures with the children and organizers urge parents to bring their cameras.

The event will also feature the Heartland Cruisers along with pony rides, bounce houses, face painting, fire department trucks, police vehicles and more.

MARCH 31

2:00 PM – Bangs Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt

The Bangs Lions Club will be hosting its second annual Easter Egg Hunt, Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at City Park.

Approximately 1,000 eggs will be scattered throughout the park Easter morning, with an overall grand prize being awarded, as well as prizes for individual winners of the three age brackets.

A contest will also be held for the adults, a large jar filled with jelly beans will be at the park, whoever comes the closest to guessing the number of jelly beans in the jar, without going over will win the jar.

The Easter Bunny will also be in attendance. Kids or even families can have their picture taken.  The Lions Club will not be taking photos, so parents who would like to have pictures taken are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Volunteers interested in helping the Bangs Lions Club hide the eggs at the park are welcome and appreciated.  The Lions Club will begin setting up the event at noon.
