It’s been a rough year economically; many people have felt the crunch along with non-profit organizations such as the United Way; however you can help the 2011 campaign by dining at Underwood’s Cafeteria from 11:00am through 2:00pm today. This campaign currently stands at approximately 75% of their annual goal, which this year is $325,000.
Traditionally, Underwood’s Cafeteria has opened its doors on a Wednesday in February, a day when they are usually closed, to host a benefit lunch which gives 100% of the proceeds to the United Way. Owners, employees and United Way board members will donate their time to the event as they do each year, in hopes of putting the campaign closer to its goal.
Some customers give above the meal cost; however this is not required or expected. Be sure to get out and enjoy a great lunch for a great cause.
The benefit has also expanded this year to include another fundraiser, a 27-minute video that features the 2010 Brownwood Football Season. This video will be available for a minimum donation of $10 or more to the United Way and as a bonus; people who do this are automatically entered into a drawing for a football signed by TCU wide receiver Bart Johnson and quarterback Andy Dalton.
Johnson, a former Brownwood Lion and who caught a touchdown pass at the 2011 Rose Bowl, will also be in attendance.
In 2011, the United Way assists 15 local agencies. Please support this fundraiser and be a part of an important event to our community.
