Jerry Johnson was recently awarded the Michele Regis Safety Leadership Award by the Texas Department of Transportation’s Occupational Safety Division. Johnson, the Safety Officer for TxDOT’s Brownwood District, was the first recipient of the award. He received the award in Austin, in front of several of TxDOT’s top safety advocates.
Johnson received this award in recognition of his tireless dedication to Mission Zero, TxDOT’s prevention-based safety program, his team building skills, peer leadership, and service to TxDOT.
“Safety is one of TxDOT’s top priorities,” said Elias Rmeili, Brownwood’s District Engineer, “and the Brownwood District is lucky to have a Safety Officer who is so committed to keeping our employees informed and safe.”Johnson has been with TxDOT for more than 21 years. He oversees the safety program for the Brownwood District’s nine-county coverage area including: Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba, and Stephens Counties.
