TxDotlogoBeginning today, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Brownwood District will begin its summer sealcoat projects.

Over the next several weeks, crews will be working to sealcoat approximately 150 miles of roadway in Lampasas, San Saba, McCulloch, Coleman, Brown, Comanche, Eastland, and Stephens Counties.

“Sealcoat projects help us to preserve and protect roadways and increase their lifetimes,” said Director of Construction Eric Lykins, P.E. “Sealcoat prevents moisture from seeping into the pavement surface and keeps the road from cracking or deteriorating.”

The following roadways are included in this year’s program:

Lampasas: FM 2657, US 281

San Saba: SH 16

McCulloch: FM 1851, FM 2996, FM 1121 (West and East)

Coleman: FM 2805, US 283, FM 1176

Brown: FM 586, FM 585

Comanche: FM 2561, FM 3381

Eastland: FM 8, SH 6, FM 1853, FM 2689

Stephens: FM 576, FM 207 (West and East), FM 1148

Weather permitting; work should be completed by mid-July. Motorists traveling in sealcoat work zones should expect brief delays. Drivers are urged to use caution around personnel and equipment, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.
