One man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Indian Creek.
According to emergency responders, the Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling northeast on Indian Creek when it was struck by a Ford F-250 pickup in the intersection. The pickup was traveling northwest on Austin Avenue.
The Grand Prix had significant damage to the passenger side of the vehicle and most of its windows were broken out from the impact of the collision. The driver of the Grand Prix was evaluated by Guardian EMS and then transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment of a head injury. His injury was thought to be non-life-threatening according to emergency responders on scene.
The Ford pickup was showered with glass from the Grand Prix but did not appear to have any significant damage. Its driver, according to witnesses on scene, was a newly licensed 16-year-old female.
The driver of the Grand Prix was reported to be on the way to pick up his 6-month old daughter, according to his wife who was on scene.
Brownwood Police Department, Guardian EMS and City of Brownwood Streets Department employees responded to the scene.
