Guardian EMS, en route to a one-vehicle rollover accident just north of Lake Brownwood Tuesday afternoon, had a change of plans as an accident with injury occurred on East Commerce as they traveled near the Pecan Bayou bridge.
According to Brownwood Police on scene, the ambulance was headed north on East Commerce when the accident occurred as traffic began yielding the right of way, pulling over and coming to a stop. Approximately 3:45pm, a blue Honda Element stopped for the ambulance and was rear-ended by a tan Ford passenger car, according to the officer on scene.
The passenger of the Ford, a female, was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Her husband, the driver of the vehicle, was reported to be uninjured. The passenger of the other vehicle was also reported to be uninjured.
Both vehicles sustained damage during the impact. The blue Honda was damaged on the rear driver’s side and the tan passenger car had front-end damage along with a cracked windshield.
Traffic was minimally delayed by the accident but was quickly moving after emergency crews cleared and cleaned the roadway of debris. Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Guardian EMS responded to the accident.
