Emergency responders arrived at the scene of a two-car accident that occurred around 7:40am Monday, to find one vehicle on its side in a drainage ditch and another badly damaged. School-bound traffic was interrupted and rerouted as they worked the scene in the 3100 block of Austin Avenue in front of Mills County State Bank.
According to witnesses on scene, the driver of the Lexus, which was on its side, was able to crawl out of his vehicle and was walking around when police arrived. His injuries were thought to be minor according to responders on scene. The female driver of the Ford Taurus was still in the vehicle at the time of the accident and had to be removed from the vehicle by firefighters; her injuries unknown. Both drivers were transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center ER.
The Lexus was reported to have been traveling southbound on Austin Avenue when it struck the Ford Taurus, which was pulling onto Austin from Schroeder Lane, according to witnesses.
Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
