At Camp Cherokee in the Bill Clements Scout Ranch outside Athens Texas, two Brownwood Volunteer Scouters graduated from Boy Scouts of America National Camping School.
Marie Wilson, Scoutmaster of Troop One (sponsored by the First Christian Church of Brownwood) received her Certification as a Camp Program Director during graduation exercises Friday, May 28, 2010 .

As Program Director, Marie will be responsible to direct the overall program of Texas Trails Council Summer Camp including general camp activities. Some of her duties will be to plan program content for leaders’ meetings, periodically measure the personal aptitude and effectiveness of members of the program staff during camp, evaluate effectiveness of program to make improvements during the camp, provide basis for improving next year’s program through a written report with recommendations at the end of the camp, and develop specifications that clearly define the responsibilities of each program staff member. In addition, she will coordinate planning and preparation for special events, submit an inventory of all program equipment to the Camp Director and carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
Marie will supervise the Program Staff which includes the Camp Commissioner, the Ecology/Conservation Director, Shooting Sports director, Marksmanship Range Officer, Archery, Aquatics Staff, Camp Chaplains, Program Aides, and Counselors in Training.

Roy Curbo is the Assistant Council Commissioner of Texas Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America.
As Camp Director, Roy will be responsible for the management and operation of the entire summer camp season. The Camp Director may delegate supervision of certain employees to key staff members, but all employees are ultimately answerable to the director. Roy ’s duties will include interpreting policies and standards for camping as established by the National Council and Texas Trails Council and require compliance by the staff and campers. In addition Roy will maintain required records for the businesslike operation of the camp, see that there is a complete understanding of all procedures related to health and safety; i.e., regulations, use of equipment and standard practices. The camp director supervises the Camp Health Officer. All purchasing, storage, preparation, and issuance of food, together with proper accounting, menu development, and kitchen and dining hall management, the operation of the trading post, frequent inspections of the camps, giving due consideration to supplies and equipment and the operation practices of units.
Curbo will be responsible for the education and training of all camp personnel, the maintenance of the physical camp facilities, and the safety, security and health of all staff and campers. He will fairly but firmly enforce all policies, rules, and regulations of the camp including those related to drugs and abuse.
Texas Trails Council will operate three camps this summer plus one week of staff development. June 13 through June 19 will be a Boy Scout Camp at Camp Billy Gibbons in San Saba County. June 20 through 23 will be a Cub Scout Webelos Camp again at Camp Billy Gibbons. June 27 though July 3 will be Scout Camp at Camp Tonkawa between Buffalo Gap and the Abilene State Park .
