Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller issued a news release Friday regarding the arrest of two subjects connected to a recent burglary in Brownwood.
On Sunday, August 3rd officers with the Brownwood Police Department responded to the 500 block of Mayes Street regarding a report of a burglary. Several handguns were taken during the burglary, Fuller said in the press release. The initial investigation into the burglary led to the possible identification of several suspects. Follow-up efforts by the Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division (CID) identified two primary suspects, Fuller said.
On Thursday evening, August 7, CID detectives were able to set up an operation which led to the arrest of 36-year-old Jimmy Lee Dudley, Jr. and 31-year-old Amber Nicole Bergman Allen, Fuller said. The incident involved Dudley and Allen driving to a business in the 300 block of N. Main Street in an attempt to sell the stolen handgun to the victim, according to Fuller. Once at the location, Dudley and Allen were taken into custody.Fuller said that an inventory subsequent to the arrest led to additional charges. Allen was charged with Theft of Firearm, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Marijuana. Dudley was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft of a Firearm.
