A photo contest was held Friday at Texas State Technical College in Brownwood which was hosted by the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
The contest was open to photographers throughout the region and contestants from Brownwood and Menard entered their best works. The photos, pictured below varied from prints of architecture, insects, reptiles, animals, landscapes and even welding in action.
Phi Theta Kappa president Melanie Tamez, a digital graphics student from Eden, organized the contest and stated that entries were from photographers ages 30-45 and included two TSTC students.Judges Heather Nix of Heather Nix Photography, TSTC Maintenance Supervisor Mark Halk and TSTC Health Information Technology Instructor Joni Wallace reviewed the photos and selected the top three photos as follows:
1st Place: Cody Wright of Brownwood (who happens to be a Boy Scout leader) with welding photo pictured above.
2nd Place: Madolin Northsworthy of Menard
3rd Place: Cody Wright
Wright was awarded a Panasonic TS20 digital camera for first place and a Chili’s gift card along with a Boy Scouts Camp Card for his third place entry.
Northsworthy was awarded a Royal Langnickel Sketch Essentials set of pastels, pencils and other drawing materials.
Of the winning photo, Nix stated that it was “stunning.” Halk stated that he admired the moment that was captured.
