Depot Liquor recently had the opportunity to purchase authentic costumes and some props from the set of the television series “True Blood” from the HBO studio auction. These items are now on display at the store, located at 1001 Vine Street in Brownwood.
The spirited HBO series was shown in 7 seasons and gathered a huge following of fans. It was based on the progression of vampires from legendary monsters into contributing citizens, thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood. Through the series, vampires had removed humans from their daily menu, but many humans still remained apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” The series is set in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps and features a waitress, Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin), who sympathizes with vampires being outcasts, and through her ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she has an open mind about the integration of vampires into society. In the Halloween spirit, authenticated items used on the set of “True Blood” are on display at Depot Liquor. They include Sookie’s season three outfit from her first time going to a werewolf bar which includes white lace shirt, blue jean skirt, wedge shoes and earrings. Tara’s season six vamp camp uniform with her number 3 on it (which is also a little bloody) and her fangs are also present for viewing. Jason’s season five bloody shades from shooting up the authorities, along with a full wine glass from Fangtasia, and an empty true blood bottle are also on display.
The Depot Liquor gang, being huge fans of the show, is hosting a True Blood themed taste testing from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th. The public, ages 21 and over, are invited to come in costume and to enjoy the tasting.
