The Lyric Performing Arts Company will be kicking off their 2011 season this week as their production of Treasure Island starts Monday.
The play, designed for children, will be performed on May 23, 24, & 25 at 9:00a.m., 11:00a.m., and 1:00p.m. each day with a bonus performance on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:30p.m. All performances will be held at the Howard Payne University Theatre.
The play is an adaptation written by Max Bush from the beloved original novel by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1881. It centers on the adventures of a young man, Jim Hawkins, as he travels from the safety of his home through perilous encounters with pirates on the high seas to Treasure Island. It features well known heroes and villains, including the legendary Long John Silver.
