Travel is discouraged today!
If at all possible, please postpone travel until later today or until tomorrow after the frozen roadways melt. Traffic is moving slowly, but the Texas Highway Patrol is reporting numerous minor crashes and vehicles stuck in ditches due to the accumulated snow on area roadways. At this time, west of Abilene has more snow accumulated on roadways, but all areas of the Big Country have a significant amount of snow.
Just a reminder that elevated structures such as bridges will freeze first for those that have emergencies and have to drive in this treacherous conditions. Allow extra following distance, slow down and leave the cruise control off!
