The Brownwood’s Got Talent competition held auditions on Saturday August 18th at the Lehnis Railroad Museum to select the top ten contestants to move on to the next round. The competition was open to any talent and the winner will be selected during this year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration. There was a wide range of talent, including dancing, singing, and comedy. Eight judges were on hand to evaluate the talents and choose the top ten through a rating system.
The judges for this event included Eric Evans, Gina Jameson, James Carruth, Carl Wayne, Chris Robinson, Austin Robinson, Angela Coronado, and Amy Murphy. The judges had the task of rating each person for their audition. The results of the top ten were made by combining the 8 judges’ scores for each performer and averaging them.
“I loved the diversity of everything,” says Tammy Robinson, Brownwood’s Got Talent Chairperson. “I am so glad we had so many different personalities in the judges; some like rock, some like country, some like dancing. So that’s why [the scores] averaged out. “
The final ten will each have a video of their performance posted to www.celebratebrownwood.com at the beginning of the week. From there, viewers will be able to vote on their favorite. The online voting will account for 50% of the judges’ scores on the day of the final performances at the Brownwood Reunion. The final ten contestants will perform on the Lone Star Stage on Saturday September 15th from 1:00-4:00 pm. After the competition at Reunion, the judges will choose the winner which will be announced at 7pm on September 15th on the Celebration Stage. The winner will then perform on the stage that Saturday night and receive 2 VIP passes to the main stage concerts.
