TommyBlevinsLocal businessman Tommy Blevins announced his candidacy Sunday for Brown County Commissioner, Precinct 1.  He released the following:

In announcing his candidacy, Blevins states that he has been a resident of Brown County for many years and will be a conservative commissioner when administering the budget dollars of the County.  The County has numerous offices in which he will be involved with and will consider their needs and will cooperate with the head of each office, while being watchful for the tax dollars being spent.

Blevins also states, “I will use my knowledge in business to oversee the matters of Brown County.  I also have the knowledge in which to see that the County equipment is properly maintained and that the roads and bridges of Brown County are kept repaired and maintained.”

Tommy also says that he will be available to his constituents to discuss County matters on a 24/7 basis, and will return every call.

“I have successfully operated a personal business in Brown County for over thirty-five years and I truly feel that my years of business experience, civic involvement, and Christian beliefs, have prepared me to oversee budgets, payrolls, and holding people accountable for their actions,” Blevins explained. “This will enable me to better serve the citizens of Brown County as Commissioner in a manner that is expected from our citizens.”

Blevins graduated from Bangs High School and entered the military service and was honorably discharged from the United State Navy. After returning to Brown County, he and his wife, Judy Carpenter Blevins have continued to reside locally for over 40 years.

For the last thirty five years Tommy has owned and operated Blevins Body Shop in Brownwood, and has been involved in local civic matters including serving on the Brown County Tax Appraisal Board, BISD Technology Advisory Committee, Brownwood Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Chamber of Commerce Contact Club. He is a member of the Brownwood Kiwanis Club where he has served as President and as Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis Texas-Oklahoma District Division 12.  He continues to serve as a Deacon at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, and serves on the Board of Directors for Cherokee Children’s Home.

In addition, Tommy feels that the many years of business experience along with the involvement in civic duties of overseeing budgets, payrolls, and holding people accountable for their actions has helped give him the knowledge and wisdom needed to conduct the business affairs of our county government.

Family, friends, business associates, civic members, and the welfare of Brown County citizens, are very important to Tommy and his family.  Tommy and Judy have two children, their late son Brian Blevins and daughter Tammie Blevins Seymore, husband, Dustin, and their three children, Tyler, Tristyn, & Trey Seymore, all of Austin, Texas.

“If elected to serve as Commissioner, I will be retiring from my business and will devote my full time to serving the citizens of Brown County,” said Blevins in the announcement.

Blevins is proud to be a citizen of Brown County and would be honored to serve as Brown County Commissioner, Precinct One.  He also solicits the public’s support in his forth-coming campaign.
