hoskinsTom Hoskins, 76 of Blanket, TX went peacefully to be with his heavenly father on, June 22, 2015. His earthly body was donated to UT Southwestern Medical Center, Alzheimer’s Disease Center in Dallas, Texas. Memorial service is at Blanket United Methodist Church, Blanket, Texas on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11am.

Tom was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on January 6, 1939 to Thomas Jefferson Hoskins and Hetty Bertha Ashbrook Hoskins. He attended schools in Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Fulton High School in Knoxville in 1957 and the University of Tennessee in 1962. Tom went to work for IBM as a mechanical engineer and later as a manager until retirement in 1992. Then he started his own company as a business broker for another 15 years. His years with IBM took him to Lexington, Kentucky and finally to Austin, Texas in 1972 and he earned several patents with his designs during those years. Retirement took him to Kingsland and finally to his 240 in Blanket.

Tom loved his family, his wife Nancy of 37 years and his four children, Tom, Tim, Kim, and Mary, as well as his 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. Tom loved Ann for 17 years and his stepson, Joe Montgomery. He loved God and his church and was active in churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas and served many years as a Gideon in Austin. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, sport events, and traveling with his grandchildren. He always had a sweet smile for all he knew and was always thinking of others. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Ann of Blanket; his children Tom and wife Cindy of Austin, Tim Hoskins of Austin, Kim Hoskins of Universal City, and Mary and husband John Miller of Katy, and stepson Joe Montgomery of Austin; grandchildren Kristin and husband Wesley Gutweiler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom and Jackson Hoskins of San Marcos, Calvin Hoskins of Austin, Carly Guion of Universal City, and Alexis, Johnny, and Blake Miller of Katy and a great grandson Bodhi Gutweiler; brothers Jim and Genny Hoskins of Lexington, Kentucky and Steve and Shirley Hoskins of Knoxville, Tennessee.
