Bill Blagg, Chairman of TexasBank’s Board of Directors, has announced the retirement of C. Norman Tinkler, Vice Chairman and CEO. “Since coming to Brownwood, Norman has successfully led TexasBank through over two decades of growth in often changing economic times,” Blagg said. “The Board is deeply grateful to Norman for his service and is proud of his accomplishments.”
Tinkler has served TexasBank for over 30 years. He began his career in Weatherford in 1980 as a Vice President which was followed by his being elected President and CEO in 1983. Tinkler was instrumental in the acquisition of Interfirst Bank, N.A., in 1987 and moved to Brownwood in March 1989 to serve as its President and CEO. Since that time, TexasBank has expanded from only one location to its current eight branches, total assets have grown significantly and the bank has been nationally recognized for its superior performance. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. In 2005 Norman combined his passion for golf with his commitment to charity by initiating the TexasBank Golf Classic. From 2005 to 2009, the Golf Classic raised over $300,000 for local charities.
“My time with TexasBank has been a great ride”, Tinkler said. “I have been fortunate to have worked with a strong Board, dedicated employees and a bank that believed in giving back to the communities in which it serves. I will always treasure the successes that we achieved and will value the relationships that I have developed over the years.”
Blagg also announced the promotion of Greg Dodds as TexasBank’s new President and CEO as well as his election to its Board of Directors. “Norman not only departs TexasBank with a firm financial footing but with highly capable management and staff. Greg has been preparing for this role for years, and the board looks forward to what the TexasBank team will continue to accomplish under his leadership,” Blagg stated.
Dodds, a Brownwood native, has been with TexasBank for the last 15 years. Since 2002, he has served as the President and Chief Lending Officer for the bank which has enabled him to gain a working knowledge of the customers and communities in which the bank serves. In addition to his professional duties, Dodds has served in numerous leadership roles in Brownwood over the years resulting in his being recognized as the “Man of the Year” by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce in 2008. He and his wife, Bradlee, have two children, Sawyer and Felicity, and are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Brownwood.
“I am honored to have been asked by the board to build upon the success that TexasBank has realized under Norman’s leadership” Dodds stated. “Although Norman will no longer be active in the bank’s operations, his tenacity and passion will remain a part of the TexasBank culture.” Dodds further stated, “I believe that TexasBank’s staff is unparalleled in regards to their professionalism and work ethic and look forward to serving alongside them in meeting the financial needs of our customers and communities for many years to come. We will continue to offer all of the modern banking services and products offered by the big banks while still providing the personal service and common sense solutions that only a community bank can deliver.”
TexasBank currently maintains branch locations in Brownwood, Stephenville, Bangs, Comanche, Dublin and Lake Brownwood. Local board members consist of Dodds, Bill Blagg, Bart Johnson, Charles Lockwood, Paul Underwood and Paul Waldrop, Jr.
