JaneCookTickets for the sixth annual HPU Woman’s Club Yellow Rose Luncheon will be available on Thursday, April 1. The luncheon is on Thursday, April 29, in the Richard and Wanda Jackson Conference Room located in the Paul and Jane Meyer Faith and Life Leadership Center.

The program will begin at 11:45 a.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Seating is limited, so women are encouraged to make reservations by Thursday, April 22.

The featured speaker for the event is best-selling author, historian and media analyst Jane Hampton Cook. She is the co-author of Stories of Faith and Courage from Iraq & Afghanistan and author of Stories of Faith and Courage from the Revolutionary War, The Faith of America’s First Ladies and Maggie Houston: My Father’s Honor.

A webmaster for President George W. Bush from 1998-2003, she served for three years in the Texas governor’s office and then two years as White House deputy director of Internet news services.  Cook is also a frequent guest on the Fox News Channel.

The HPU Yellow Rose Scholarship is presented annually to a female sophomore at HPU who maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average, participates in extracurricular activities and exhibits leadership qualities representative of Christian values. This year’s recipient will be announced at the luncheon.

Also, during the luncheon the Yellow Rose Award will be presented to a woman in recognition of her exemplary leadership, Christian values and demonstrated support of Howard Payne University.

Tickets are $10 for HPU Woman’s Club members and $15 for non-members. They can be purchased at the HPU Harrison House, located at 803 Center Avenue, or in the HPU Cashier’s Office, located in the Packer Administration Building. Table reservations for six are available. The Woman’s Club is also seeking $500 sponsorships which include tickets for eight, complimentary gifts, reserved table signage and special recognition.
