The main pump valued at $10,000 that is used to supply water to 2400 people living in the Thunderbird Bay subdivision at Lake Brownwood was taken last Thursday according to Brown County Sheriff reports.

Operators of the Thunderbird Bay Water Service reported to the Sheriff’s office that the raw water pump that pumps 177 gallons of water per minute from Lake Brownwood was taken by a service company for non-payment for work that they had performed on the pump over the last year.  The bill totals more than $35,000.

The Sheriff’s report says that Thunderbird Bay Water Service has a secondary pump that they use during slow times, but that it was not functioning for an unknown problem at the time the main pump was taken.

Thunderbird Bay Water was in contact with the company that took the main pump late last week.

Operations Manager Rusty Hawley of Thunderbird Bay water said on Monday that they got the secondary pump operational and that most residents of Thunderbird Bay did not even realized there was a problem.

When asked about the possible return of the primary pump, Hawley said, “I am just not sure.”
