A three vehicle accident on Hwy 279 north near Lake Brownwood resulted in one man being sent to the hospital.
Approximately 11:26 a.m. Friday, Brown County emergency responders were called to the scene of a three vehicle accident in the 5600 block of Hwy 279N.
According to the driver of one of the vehicles involved, a semi-truck pulling two trailers struck a metal sign warning of utility work ahead. The driver of the white Ford work truck stated that he was driving in the southbound lane and had slowed down because workers were driving in the bar ditch to recover the sign in the roadway. As he slowed down, a smaller white pickup behind him swerved and struck the Ford’s rear driver’s side panel. The driver of the Ford stated that the small white pickup then traveled into the oncoming north bound traffic and struck the tan Chevy truck head on.
The driver of the smaller truck was taken by ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Ford truck was uninjured. The third driver, in the tan pickup was traveling with his dog, a healer mix, both were reported to be uninjured.
Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash. Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Guardian EMS also responded to the accident scene.
