Brown County emergency responders were called to a one-vehicle rollover accident approximately 4 miles north of Zephyr late Thursday morning.

Approximately 11:00am, an extended cab Chevrolet pickup truck with three occupants was traveling north on County Road 291 when it lost control and overturned, coming to rest in a field about 1.5 miles west of the intersection of CR 291 and FM 1467.

Initial reports indicated four victims had been ejected; however, law enforcement confirmed there were three occupants of the vehicle.  At least two of the injured were  ejected from the vehicle.  Two females and one male were transported by helicopter, according law enforcement officials on scene.  Two of the victims in critical condition were flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and the third to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene in not as critical condition according to emergency responders on scene.  Air Evac LifeTeam transported two patients and Native Air transported one.

“We are blessed to have the availability of helicopters where we didn’t years ago when I started,” said Early Police Chief David Mercer.  “They are a definite asset to us.”
