Coggin Park was the place to be on Saturday at the 5th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt and Candy Throwdown hosted by Wendlee Broadcasting where thousands of kids and parents had some family fun.
“There are thousands of people here today,” said Meghan Mask of Wendlee Broadcasting. “We have over 17,000 pieces of candy this year and around 2000 Easter eggs for the kids to hunt.”
Three egg hunts were held for kids pre-k & under, kindergarten & 1st graders and 2nd & 3rd graders where all of the candy and eggs were snatched up. The event also featured classic cars by the Heartland Cruisers, pony rides, bounce houses, face painting, the Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police, Air Evac Lifeteam and more. The Early High School band also played live music and featured “the chicken dance” during the festivities. There was also plenty of food and drinks to go around.
In addition, Ben Cox of the Breeze gave away the “Bunny with the Money” which included a prize package with a huge stuffed bunny, a basket full of candy and toys plus $100 cash. This year’s winner was Vaniti Schell of Brownwood, pictured below.
The event was sponsored by the Breeze 96.9, Newstalk 102.3, Brookshires, Affiliated Bank, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Bruner Auto Group, First Central Credit Union, Air Evac Lifeteam, Heartland Mall, Smile Crafters, Feat Studios, Dr. Pepper, Early Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church of Brownwood, and Food Plaza.
