Thomas McCallum, Jr., 81, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, in Fort Worth. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, at the First Christian Church in Granbury. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Green Leaf Cemetery in Brownwood. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Thomas was born February 22, 1931, in Robertson County to Thomas Jefferson McCallum, Sr. and Caro Mae Edwards McCallum. He married June Gill on June 1, 1958, in Brownwood. Thomas was a graduate of Texas A&M in 1953 and a member of the Association of Former Students and the Century Club. He served in the U.S. Air Force in North Africa in Tripoli. He was a telephone engineer for G.T.E.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Gill, on December 3, 2006; daughter, Tonya DeNyse McCallum; and nephew, Charles Ray Shepperd.
Survivors include his sister, Margie and her husband, Charles Shepperd of Bryan and Jane and husband, Guy “Reggie” Ward of Fairfield; nephews, David and wife, Kimberly Ward of Houston, Brent and wife, Debbie Burns of Granbury, and Michael Burns; great-niece, Kennedy Ward of Houston; great-nephews, Carter and Jackson Ward of Houston; sister-in-law, Norma Sue and husband, W.C. Burns of Arlington.
