Written by Amanda Coers – Unknown suspects made off with more than a Hunger Buster Special after a smash and grab burglary of the local Dairy Queen early Saturday morning.
According to reports, Brownwood Police were dispatched to the restaurant, located in the 1600 block of Austin Avenue at 5:54 a.m on Saturday, December 17th. As employees arrived at the restaurant to begin opening for breakfast, they noted signs of forced entry.
After investigation, it was noted a safe containing deposits for over $2,500 was missing.
Surveillance videos from the restaurant were submitted into evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, December 16th
*12:00 a.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 1600 block of venue C when the officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain a single lane. After investigation, officers discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Brownwood Police arrested Kayla Marie Yarbrough and Tyler Guinn Cooper, both of Abilene. Two juveniles in the vehicle were also arrested.
*8:30 a.m. Brownwood Police spoke to a complainant by phone in reference to his debit card being used at Walmart without permission. The suspect has not yet been identified.
*2:20 p.m. An intoxicated individual operating a motorcycle ran into the back of a marked Brownwood Police unit on 2nd Street, near Indian Creek Road. The driver, Garrett Black, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd, and Resisting Arrest.
*4:00 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Avenue C for a domestic disturbance. Injury to a child/elderly/disabled person was listed in the report. The investigation is ongoing.
*6:23 p.m. Brownwood Police filed a report regarding credit card abuse. The card was used at a local gas station. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, December 17th
*4:47 p.m. Brownwood Police were called to Walmart regarding theft of property, less than $100. A citation was issued to the suspect.
*3:00 p.m. Brownwood Police responded to a hit and run incident near the 300 block of East Commerce Street. A report was filed.
*4:43 p.m. Brownwood Police responded to the 2600 block of Crockett Drive in reference to child abuse. A report was filed.
*8:51 p.m. Brownwood Police spoke with a victim in reference to her cell phone stolen from Home Depot. A report was filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
Sunday, December 18th
*2:37 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to a North Brownwood residence in reference to an assault. During the investigation, officers learned a male subject assaulted another male relative. Kevin Salazar was arrested for Assault, Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence with Previous Conviction, a 3rd Degree Felony.
*4:45 p.m. Brownwood Police were called to a business near the 400 block of West Commerce Street in reference to a Violation of a Protective Order. The Investigation is ongoing.
Monday, December 19th
*2:12 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Austin Avenue. After contact, officers arrested Catherine McDaniel for Assault/Family Violence.
