Funeral services for Thelma Adele St. Ama, 89, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 20, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Todd King and Jason Hollinger officiating. Interment will follow at Windham Cemetery.
Mrs. St. Ama passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Thelma Adele Furry was born on November 5, 1921, in Brown County near the old Byrd’s Store. She married James Wilburn St. Ama on November 15, 1941 in Grosvenor Texas. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2004. She had worked in sales for a while, but what she loved most was being a homemaker and caring for her family.
Thelma loved watching baseball, as long as the Texas Rangers were playing, football and camping. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting in her spare time. She was a Baptist and had lived in Brownwood since 1976, moving here from Andrews.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby St. Ama and wife Nell, of Early and Donald St. Ama and wife Susan of Kansas City MS; daughter, Mary Ann Brown of Grand Prairie; brother, Thurman Furry of Brownwood and sister, Jewell Wyatt of Stephenville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilburn St. Ama, her parents Claude and Bertha Furry, a brother, Troy Furry and a sister, Claudine Windham.
