Sources indicate that Hollywood Theaters and their contractors are hard at work to repair the damage caused to the box office and awning so that the show can go on, possibly as early as this weekend.
Fire code requires the awning of the building to have an exterior sprinkler system for safety reasons. The lines to this exterior sprinkler system at the theater froze, damaging the box office’s electronic ticket equipment, computers, and the exterior lighting system on the awning. Workers have been busy this week to get the theater back open by the weekend.
Rumors have been circulating that the theaters were closed due to a roof collapse along with several other versions of the story; however sources state that the theaters themselves had no damage, only the box office and exterior awning.
Currently the only thing stopping the box office repairs from being completed is the new ticket equipment that is being shipped. An overnight delivery was scheduled to arrive Wednesday morning; however icy conditions have prevented its arrival.
Repairs to the theatre will include a new “anti-freeze” system that will prevent damage like this from happening in the future.
