leapinglionBrownwood Lions will take on the Snyder Tigers during their homecoming game this Friday night.  According to Head Football Coach Chuck Howard, Snyder will be facing a full Lions football team as many players will be returning to the field.

With the exception of Ryan Lewis and Braxton Kilgo who remain out with injuries, all players are ready to go Howard confirmed.

The Lions have had a hard start to the season but moving forward, excited to play on their home turf at Gordon Wood Stadium.  After playing two strong teams with several Division I players, the Lions face Snyder with a 0-2 record.  Howard takes that with caution.

“Snyder is 0-2 but could just as easily be 2-0 as they have lost both games by 1 point each.  We will need to show up ready to play,” said Howard.

This week being homecoming gives another boost to the team.  Howard stated that he and the team are reminded of the investment of former Lions and coaches that may return to watch the game and that the support of the home crowd is always energizing.

“It is always great to see former Lions return home.  Many good players and coaches have invested much time and effort in building the Brownwood tradition and our current players know this and are excited about the opportunity to play on Friday night in front of our fans,” Howard said.   “It is one of the many things that make Brownwood a special place.”

Howard explained that the team must focus on the current game and continue to play hard for the entire game.

“We are only concerned with the Snyder Tigers right now, but more importantly with how the Brownwood Lions approach this game.  I believe that we make our own luck,” Howard explained.  “We need to come out ready to play and compete for four quarters and the rest will take care of itself.”

This Lions vs. Snyder game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 13th at Gordon Wood Stadium.  Festivities including the crowning of the 2013 Brownwood High School Homecoming Queen will take place at halftime.  Lions fans are encouraged to come to the game proudly support their team and enjoy a chance to gather with current students and faculty/staff along with returning alumni at the game.
