The Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteer Organization held its Annual Awards Luncheon on May 15th at the Brownwood Country Club. The occasion marked the 45th anniversary for the organization founded on May 14, 1969. The volunteer organization, which was known then as the Auxiliary of Brownwood Community Hospital, was formed in anticipation of the Brownwood Community Hospital opening on August 20th of 1969. The initial volunteer organization consisted of ninety members, five contributing and two life members.

Three of the current active BRMC Volunteers were part of that initial organization. They are Lucy Harkey, Florence Hass, and Joanie Thomas.

Each one was honored for 45 years of contributions to the volunteer organization during the Awards Luncheon.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a Volunteer. BRMC Volunteer application forms may be obtained in the BRMC Gift Shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer Office at 325-649-3399 and leaving a message.
