BettyColeJanuary2014BRMC Volunteer Betty Cole was honored as the January 2014 Volunteer of the Month during the February 2014 Executive Board Meeting of the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers.  She has been a Volunteer for over 12 years having joined the organization in 2001.

Betty is currently a familiar face at the Volunteer Information Desk located at the front entrance of Brownwood Regional Medical Center where she provides assistance to patients, their family members, and visitors to the Medical Center.  In the first eleven years of volunteering she volunteered in the Gift Shop and also served as the Assistant Timekeeper. Betty has over 5560 hours of Volunteer Service at BRMC.

When asked why she became a BRMC Volunteer, Betty explained that she wanted to be part of an organization that provided scholarships to deserving students working toward degrees in the Allied Health Care Field.  The BRMC Volunteers met her objective.  She also enjoys seeing the smiles on the faces of BRMC Patients, Visitors, and Staff when they are assisted by a Volunteer.

The Volunteer of the Month Award is awarded by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year.  Recipients of the Award receive recognition and lunch at the Executive Board Meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected.  Each BRMC Volunteer of the Month recipient is recognized with a framed Volunteer of the Month Certificate, a ‘For the Love of a Child’ pin which represents the motto of The Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers for the 2013 – 2014 Volunteer Year and a ‘BRMC Volunteer of the Month’ bar.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a Volunteer.  BRMC Volunteer application forms may be obtained in the BRMC Gift Shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer Office at 325-649-3399 and leaving a message.
