RomancingTheStarsThere are still tickets available for The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter’s annual fundraiser this Saturday evening.  This year, the dinner/dance will be held at the Brown County Fairgrounds Home Economics Building with at theme of “Romancing the Stars.”  There will be red carpet, paparazzi, along with live and silent auctions.  The focus of the event will be on the “Local Stars” – the folks who have given so much to help The ARK exist.

The event promises to be fun for everyone according to organizers.  “The goal of this year’s event is to make everyone feel like a star.”  Executive Director Terri Densman said. “We’ll have great music to dance to, a wonderful steak dinner and exciting auction items to bid on.”

The steak dinner for the event will be catered by Humphrey Pete’s and includes an 8 oz. sirloin, roasted new potatoes, green beans, salad, roll and dessert.

The Bill Smallwood band will return to entertain at the event.  Smallwood, from Fredericksburg, is known for his jazzy renditions of classic forties music, and will also pull out some favorites from throughout the decades.

In addition to a guitar autographed by George Strait for the live auction, there will also be Robert Earl Keen items, a vacation trip to New York, a vacation trip to New Orleans, and a sapphire/diamond ring from Nathan’s Jewelers.

Tickets (and sponsor information) are available from any ARK Board Member, including John Propst, Ann Beadel, Jo Ann Snow, Jared Trowbridge, Troy Carroll, George Caldwell, Kimberly Cruz, Cassandra Evers, Rick Phelps or Dion White, by calling the ARK administration at (325)643-2699, or online at www.arkshelter.org (through PayPal).  Tickets are also available at both Wendlee Broadcasting and Brown County Broadcasting (KOXE), and local Chamber of commerce offices in Brownwood, Early, Comanche and Coleman.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
