posterJuly12th2014Volunteers and board members of The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter will be coming together on Saturday, July 12th for a bake sale at Bruner Auto Group, located at 224 Early Blvd.  Supporters of The ARK will also be selling hot dogs for 50¢ and passing out free Dr. Pepper during the Bruner event.  In addition, later on in the evening, the ARK will be the recipient of proceeds from the Cowboy Capital Roller Derbygirls’ bout at the Brownwood Coliseum against the Route 66 Derby Girls from the Amarillo area.

The Bruner’s Auto Group event will feature Texas Country Music from the Mike Stanley band, a bounce house for the kids, hot dogs for 50¢, free Dr. Pepper and a bake sale benefiting The ARK. The event, which begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m., will be located under tents on the car lot and is open to the public.

The ARK Board members will cook the hot dogs and all proceeds from their sale will benefit The ARK.  Helping them out will be members of Victory Academy and a few of the Cowboy Capital Roller Derbygirls manning the free Dr. Pepper booth and the bake sale.

“We are always grateful for the support of the community,” said executive director Terri Densman, “and we want to thank Bruner Auto Group for thinking of us and offering us this opportunity.”

Those who would like help the ARK by baking something for the bake sale may call the shelter at 643-2699.  Please ask for Mary Silver, Volunteer Coordinator.

The Cowboy Capital Roller Derbygirls will be skating around at the hot dog and bake sale at Bruner’s promoting their own event which will take place later in the evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum.  The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the whistle for the Roller Derby bout begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and The ARK is the spotlight charity which will receive some proceeds from the bout.  The ARK will also have a booth at the Coliseum during the bout and will be introduced to the fans that evening.

“We always enjoy skating at the Brownwood Coliseum and are even more excited to be there this time, because we will be facing the recently merged team, Route 66 Roller Derby,” said Rebekah Binns aka MurSlayDeez Benz of Cowboy Capital Rollergirls. “The team consists of skaters from Amarillo and surrounding areas. We would love for all of our Brownwood fans to come out and show their support for CCR and The ARK.”
