The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter is gearing up for their third annual “Shot in the Dark” Golf Tournament to be held Saturday, June 25 at the Coleman Country Club. There is still time to get your team signed up, according to organizers.
This tournament follows the same rules as the two previous years, with 9 holes of regular golf and then 9 holes of night golf. The tournament is held on Saturday, June 25th at the Coleman Country Club and the entry fee is $400 per team. All proceeds go to The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter (The ARK). Tee off for the 4-person scramble begins at 5 pm with registration beginning at 3:30 pm. Mulligans will be available for $5 each and there will be a wager hole. There will be trophies for the top 3 finishing teams and “special” trophies for the dead last team.
Between the 9 holes of regular golf and the 9 holes of night golf, the Heart of Texas EMS staff will host a cookout for participants. There will also be great door prizes, including 2 tickets to the Texas Rangers’ Game, 4 tickets to the Round Rock Express, 2 Gift Certificates for a round of golf, cart and range balls at the Hide Out, a $20 gift card from Academy Sports and Outdoors, and 12 coupons for meals at Cooks Fish Barn.Organizers explained the uniqueness of the tournament, “When the sun goes down, the fairways are lit up with glow-in-the-dark markers. Each golfer is given golf balls that glow, and each golfer and golf cart are festooned with glow in the dark elements. Even the holes are lined with glow-in-the-dark rings.”
All of the proceeds benefit the ARK Domestic Violence Shelter. The ARK provides services for both in-house and outreach victims of either domestic violence or sexual assault in Brown, Coleman and Comanche Counties. This tournament will be held in Coleman to help those victims, some of whom come from the Coleman area.
