TexasBank of Brownwood honored teachers with a special appreciation night of free admission to the Brownwood Lyric Theatre’s production of The Elephant Man on Thursday, March 17th.
According to the Lyric’s Managing Director Eric Evans, there were approximately 210 free tickets provided to teachers before the show opened for the Thursday night show.
“We are always exceptionally appreciative of TexasBank, of their willingness to support the Lyric, but also of their purposely expressed appreciation of such groups as teachers and school districts,” said Evans.
He explained that TexasBank took the opportunity to sponsor such appreciation nights wholeheartedly, even more than what was initially planned.
“We originally approached TexasBank with this sponsorship to allow a $5 admission/teacher and they stepped up to make the night free for teachers,” explained Evans who also pointed out that TexasBank sponsored a Military Appreciation night last May during the Lyric’s production of M*A*S*H.
TexasBank President Greg Dodds explained his company’s desire to continue support of the Lyric, “Having donated to the restoration of the theatre, we wanted to continue to support what they do. We are so proud to be a part of this and what the Lyric has accomplished. This is our second show to partner with the Lyric, we felt it was a great chance to honor such a special group.”
The Elephant Man runs through Sunday with four more shows,
Rivers Shotwell as he portrays John Merrick, the Elephant Man.
