Brownwood News – TexasBank presented certificates to local recipients of this year’s James and Dorothy Doss Foundation Scholarships during a reception to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning in the lobby of the bank’s main branch in downtown Brownwood.
TexasBank will gift $88,000 in scholarship funds in 2018 through the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation to local schools in the communities that TexasBank serves. Thursday morning local high school students from Bangs, Brownwood, Blanket, Brookesmith, Early, May, and Zephyr, were honored with a reception and presentation of scholarship certificates. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship for the college or trade school of their choice.
Institutions benefiting from these scholarship funds include Howard Payne University – $25,000; Tarleton State University – $25,000; Texas State Technical College Regents Circle – $5,000; with additional scholarships totaling $33,000 being gifted to students graduating from Brown, Comanche, Eastland, and Erath Counties.
“We’re glad at TexasBank to be able to be in a position to provide the scholarships to you,” said Greg Dodds, President and CEO of TexasBank, to the students gathered at the reception. “Hopefully by doing so we’re leaving you guys with a good impression of Brownwood and the surrounding communities and you’ll want to come back here someday, because that’s our goal is we want to keep the rural area of Texas vibrant. We want to make it a place you guys want to come home to and raise your families some day. We’re proud of you and proud of what you’ve accomplished.
