TexasBank is pleased to announce that $88,000 was distributed to area high school and college students through the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation this year. Since 2008, a total of $528,000 has been awarded to local students.

The Foundation provides scholarships for area high school and college students pursing further education, and aims to help students ease their financial burden.

“TexasBank is proud to be affiliated with such a significant investment in furthering the education of the youth in the markets in which we serve, and we are proud to see the amounts continue to grow since beginning in 2008” said Greg Dodds, President and CEO of TexasBank. “Commitment to the education of our future leaders is of great importance to our board and ownership as evidenced in the over half a million dollars in local scholarships given by the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation over the past eight years.”

Area high schools receiving scholarships this year included:  Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Blanket, Brookesmith, May, Zephyr, DeLeon, Dublin, Comanche, Gustine, Sidney, Stephenville, Eastland and Goldthwaite.

In addition, Texas State Technical College in Brownwood received scholarship monies of $5,000, while Howard Payne University and Tarleton State University also received $25,000 each. These scholarships are to be used toward assisting students attending these universities that are from the immediate trade areas of TexasBank.
