The Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) and Texas Tourism Foundation (TTF) are awarding a 2011-2012 TTIA/TTF Scholarship for $1,500 to Claire Bettis Faetche of Brownwood, Texas. Faetche, a sophomore at Texas A&M University in College Station majoring in Archaeology, will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Ms. Faetche is the daughter of Martha Faetche, Visitor Center Manager for the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB.
Additional scholarships are being awarded to:
Maegan E. Hutton, a junior at Lubbock Christian University majoring in English with a minor in Art, will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Ms. Hutton is a family member of an employee of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.
Christina J. Swanson, a senior attending Tarleton State University in Stephenville majoring in Business with a minor in Marketing, will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Ms. Swanson is an employee of the Waco Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The TTIA/TTF Scholarship Program was established in 2001 by TTIA’s membership.
The purpose of the program is to support the educational system by providing student scholarships to current employees or to the immediate family (immediate family is defined as spouse, children and parents) of employees of current TTIA member organizations.
In addition, the scholarship recipient must be enrolled in an accredited Texas college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student; must have an official transcript from that accredited Texas college or university with a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; and must currently be taking a minimum of 9 credit hours (unless participating in a school sponsored internship in which case the minimum requirements are 6 hours).
The scholarship awards will be presented on Monday, September 19 during the awards luncheon of TTIA’s Annual Texas Travel Summit Conference in San Antonio.
Scholarship applications for the 2012-2013 Academic Year will be accepted beginning in Spring 2012.
