Level’s at Lake Brownwood continue their slow decline as the lake is now at 6.8′ below spillway level.
The fish still seem to be biting though was the successful Big Bass Tournament that was held last weekend shows as being very successful (see article HERE). The winner of the tournament, Joey Wynn was kind enough to reveal the bait that he used to win the tournament.
Wynn said that he used, “Grande Bass 4″ Indigo in Red bug and chartreuse w/red & purple flakes on BassHogg 3/16 pig sticker shaky head, a Grande Bass Rattlesnake in watermelon red texas rigged, a RJA custom Crank bait in the Brownwood Special and a FLW fluke in chartreuse.”
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department released its weekly fishing report for Brownwood which states:
Black bass are excellent on Bass Hogg inline buzz frogs and 3/16oz. Pig Sticker Shaky Heads with Grande Bass 4″ redbug and watermelon/chartreuse tailed Trickster worms along the docks, rocks, and near brush piles in 2 – 8 feet early and 8 – 16 feet later, and on topwater frogs, torpedoes, and Pop-R’s on main lake flats near grass. Hybrid striper are good trolling hellbenders near the Woodsman of the World camp. White bass are good on Li’l Fishies off lighted docks at night. Crappie are good on Li’l Fishies and minnows over brush piles in Little Rocky Cove in 10 – 20 feet, and under lighted docks at night. Channel catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers over baited holes in 12 – 22 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and worms in 5 – 14 feet.
