The Texas 4-H Center will be hosting their annual October Fest camp for senior adults 50 and over this fall. Sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, October Fest is offered for men and women to enjoy fun and educational sessions during the week of October 21-25.
Program opportunities include “hands-on” learning centers, educational sessions and other exciting projects. Educational programs include topics on cooking, finance, crafts, healthy living, and more.
The amenities at the camp located on Lake Brownwood add to your stay. Lighted tennis courts, horseshoes, billiards, volleyball, shuffleboard and dominoes, as well as card and table games are all popular activities.
The theme for this year’s program is “Christmas is Coming.” The last evening will showcase a closing banquet and entertainment.
The Texas 4-H Conference Center is 11 miles north of Brownwood on Texas Highway 279 and one mile east on Farm Road 3021. The center encompasses 78 acres of beautiful wooded hills and is framed by one mile of Lake Brownwood shoreline.
The registration fee includes all meals, refreshments and housing accommodations. The cost to stay per person in the dorm is $210 or $250 for a semiprivate room in the Leadership Lodge. Reservations may be made by contacting program director Mark Carroll at (325) 784-5482 or emailing Texas4-HCenter@ag.tamu.edu.
