tennis_logoTYLER, Texas – The Howard Payne men’s tennis team loses to McMurry University 5-0 in the semifinals of theĀ 2010 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Jackets started in a hole they could not recover from dropping the three doubles matches 8-2, 8-4, 8-2. McMurry only needed to take the #3 and #6 singles matches to finish out the 5-0 win.

Howard Payne seniors Chris Sutton and Ross Sidman finish out their successful careers at HPU with their third ASC tournament appearance. After a slow start for the Jackets this season, their leadership proved to be the difference in HPU making another ASC tournament appearance.

The Yellow Jackets entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed from the ASC West Division. HPU finishes the season with an 8-11 overall record.
