Brownwood News – Last Friday morning, the only grocery store in San Saba was destroyed by fire but efforts are underway to open a temporary location for Lowe’s Market by this weekend. Meanwhile, the Central Texas Food Bank will distribute food on Wednesday.
The Central Texas Food Bank, San Saba Mobile Food Pantry, will distribute food on Wednesday, March 25th at the parking lot of the San Saba Civic Center. Distribution will begin at 10:00 am.
This will be a mobile (drive thru) distribution. The food will arrive prepacked in boxes and bags and volunteers will load it into your vehicle. There will be no need for a recipient to get out of their vehicle.
When you arrive at Mill Pond proceed to the Civic Center using S. Thomas Stewart Dr. (the main street through Mill Pond Park). You will be asked to drive through the park and wait in line, please remain in your vehicle. There will be volunteers to direct you to the distribution site.
Once you have received your food you will be asked to exit the park using E Mound St. All traffic in the park will be one-way traffic.
All persons must use the same entry point. If you are on a bicycle or using another mode of transportation you must use the same route.
Everyone who comes will be eligible for food distribution. This is a disaster food distribution.
If you are in need of food, there is also a van that is making free trips to Lowe’s in Llano.
