According to Brownwood Police reports, at approximately 10:15 on Friday night, during a routine traffic stop in the 1700 block of Coggin, a Brownwood police officer found three teens to be smoking marijuana while driving to a friend’s house.  Reportedly during the stop, the driver rolled down the window, allowing smoke to pour out of the vehicle. 

Reports state that the driver, 17-year-old Antonio Arreola admitted that he and two friends, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old Emelio Hernandez bought the marijuana in Coleman and that they were smoking it while driving.  Reports further stated that Hernandez and the other minor also admitted the offense. 

The officer reported that during a search of the vehicle, a small bag containing more marijuana and another bag containing 6 small pink pills, later identified as Xanax, a marijuana pipe and unused grape cigars were found.  All were placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana less than 28 grams, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 4 less than 2 oz. according to the reports.

In an unrelated incident, Saturday about 10:33pm, an officer made a traffic stop when a vehicle did not properly signal before a turn.  When the officer exited his patrol car, the driver, 18-year-old Frankie Salazar also exited his vehicle and began yelling at the officer.  The other occupant of the vehicle also got out and stood by the passenger door.  Due to the aggressive approach of the driver, the officer unholstered his taser and commanded the suspects to return to the vehicle.  Both obeyed the officer and returned to the car.  As the officer approached the car, he noted a glass marijuana pipe and as back up officers arrived, Salazar was asked to exit the car and was then handcuffed and put into the patrol car for the officers’ safety.  Salazar then told the officer he had a warrant for his arrest and then removed a small canister containing 2.53g of marijuana.  Salazar was then placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.  The passenger was released. 

In other unrelated reports: 

-Thursday, at 5:37pm, a Brookshires store manager called police regarding a shoplifting in progress according police reports.  Reportedly the suspects were a recognized mother and daughter who had stolen from the store multiple times in the past, according to management.  Reports show the pair had attempted to take various snack foods totaling $23.97.  A Criminal Trespass Warning was issued to both offenders.

-According to reports, Friday, an officer was called to the 2200 block of Fisk regarding cruelty to animals.  The complainant believed someone was poisoning her dogs by throwing plastic bottles of poison into her yard and into the dog’s feed dish.  No suspects were identified.

-Police reports state that on Saturday, a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of 34-year old Valentin Aguilar Lopez, who was not only intoxicated, but also identified as an illegal alien wanted for a warrant in Brazoria County for Bond Forfeiture/DWI.  The subject allegedly presented a fake Driver’s License from Mexico that he admitted buying in Missouri for $60.
