Tammi Lee Johnson , 47, died on March 17, 2020, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, following a valiant battle against Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Disorder for many years. Although her successful double lung transplant two years ago brought renewed hope and restored life to Tammi, recent infections were more than her body could continue to fight.
There is not one person who met Tammi who did not feel like an instant friend. She was selfless in her compassion for others and always put their needs above her own. She enjoyed the beach, phone calls with Kaylee, socializing with her many friends, and the Dallas Cowboys. Tammi is remembered for her beautiful way to create a home, her devotion to her daughters and husband, her many professional accomplishments, and her ability to make everyone laugh with her sense of humor. Her role as Nonna to her grandchildren became the ultimate joy of her life.
Tammi is survived by her loving husband, Eric Johnson, her mother Rosa “Shot” Harris, her daughters Kaylee Coleman (Caleb Scarbrough) and Megan Johnson, her sister Terri Hooper (Carl Smith), her grandchildren Hayden, Mason, and Brooklyn, and her nephew and niece Zack and Sydney. She is preceded in death by her father Charlie “Dood” Harris.
Tammi’s greatest wish is for everyone to become an organ donor. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Baylor Transplant Hospital in Dallas.
Her wonderful spirit will be celebrated at a private family service at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
She will be laid to rest next to her father “Dood” Harris in the Heflin Cemetery.
