Funeral Services for Sylvia Costa, 88, of Lake Brownwood will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Early First Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Ailshie and Rev. Doil Hammons officiating.  Interment will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  She passed away Friday morning at her residence.

Sylvia Costa was born September 17, 1921 in Mena, Arkansas to Cornelius and Flora May Manley Sparks. She worked and Camp Bowie during World War II and that is where she met Alfred Costa Jr.. They married on June 3, 1946 in  Brownwood and he preceded her in death in 1981.  She then married James Watson and he also preceded her in death.  A lifetime resident of Brownwood she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Early and was active in the Camp Bowie Senior Citizen Center where she volunteered for several years.  She was a member of the Brownwood Vintage Roses Red Hat Society.  The past two years she was a member of the Red Hat performing group, The Sweet Hattatines.  Sylvia played several parts in the performing group. She participated in thirty seven shows during her two years in that group.

Norma Lee Fowler and husband B.J. of Owens, Texas

Numerous nieces and nephews including

Shirley Fragua of Brownwood, Texas

Noma of Louisiana

Ronnie Fowler of Brownwood, Texas

Donald Fowler of Brownwood, Texas

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a brother Melvin Sparks.

Memorial may be made to the Camp Bowie Senior Center or to a charity of ones choice.
